So that's another downgrade for me on the lock I paid $80 more for. The new lock did not show up with a device discovery in Alexa, and disabling/reinstalling the August skill didn't find the lock. Great job guys, glad you had time to update the app for your new product with the wifi bridge built in. The notification setup in the app warns me that I need a wifi bridge to get notifications. That worked fine this time, which was nice. I force-quit the app and added the lock via Home.app. There is no way to cancel out of Homekit registration at that point, there is either a "retry" button or an X on the upper right that does nothing. This was after the initial setup worked fine and the doorsense calibration ran fine. I tried adding the lock to Homekit from the August app and it would spin and tell me the lock was unreachable. Homekit setup two months later is still completely broken. Oddly, though, the lock just showed up in Homekit about 3 days later by itself. I spent a weekend working with tech support and they eventually decided it was a software bug and forwarded my logs to the developers. The app would crash, not update registration state, the lock wouldn't show up in Home.app. Homekit setup on the last model was a disaster. I was relieved when an update said it would be arriving today. Originally Amazon had both the black and silver models available and shipping on the 4th, then after I ordered mine the shipping date slipped to the 28th. Oddly, it seemed like the black units were not available at launch back at the beginning of June. I bought the "Pro" bundle of the last generation only 2 months ago, so I was able to return it in exchange for this one. So this is the new "fourth gen" smart lock from August.
